What are we welding?
In June 2019 we started working at Brown Street, Ponsonby – a 3500sqm extension of Ponsonby Central on the site of its carpark on Brown St
Once completed the development will increase the size of the precinct from 2700sqm to 6200sqm.
It will include a three-storey basement carpark, one level of retail and hospitality space, one level of commercial offices, and a top-level residential penthouse.
Aimecs is doing all the site welding.
This site requires vertical up welding to AS/NZS 1554 Welding Procedure Requirements with procedures for electrode & Gasless flux cored wire welding.
Quality Control
Materials & Testing Laboratories have been inspecting the welds with a minimal amount of rework required. As a result the site manager has indicated they will continue working with us on the following projects.
Working Environment
Hazards must be thoroughly identified and mitigated as practically possible.
Ground water, mud and heavy machinery working in the area, together with a tight time frame, make it a tricky site to work in.
None of all theses hazards have stopped our welders on doing an outstanding job.
